Allt an Tuir Renewable Energy Park Proposal

Welcome

Thank you for visiting the Allt an Tuir Renewable Energy Park project website.

The application for Allt an Tuir Renewable Energy Park has been submitted to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit - it was validated on 13 February 2025.

The application documents can be accessed online at the Energy Consents Unit’s website at www.energyconsents.scot under the ‘ECU Reference’: ECU00005008 or using the project name 'Allt an Tuir' in the search bar. A copy of the Public Notice can be found here and the application documents in the Documents section.

A hard copy of the application is also available at Lairg Library (The Main Street, Lairg IV27 4D) during its opening hours for members of the public to view:

  • Monday - 10:00 - 14:00

  • Tuesday - 12:00 - 15:30; 16:00 - 19:00

  • Thursday - 10:00 - 14:00

  • Friday - 12:00 - 15:00

  • (Library closed Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday)

The application is for nine turbines (eight turbines up to 200 metres in height to blade tip, and one turbine up to 180 metres in height to blade tip). The proposed development includes an area for solar panels and battery energy storage on site to maximise the use of the grid connection capacity and help provide grid flexibility.

It is estimated that the renewable energy park, if consented, would generate the electricity equivalent demand of over 40,000 Scottish homes each year.

We held a consultation events at Rosehall Community Hall (IV27 4EU) in February 2024 and August 2024. The exhibition material can be found in the Public Consultation tab.

The importance of taking action to address the Climate Emergency is recognised by The Highland Council, the Scottish Government and the UK Government.

In line with advice from the Committee on Climate Change (CCC), in preparing the Climate Change Act 2019, the Scottish Government has set a target date of 2045 for reaching net-zero carbon emissions.

The CCC’s advice is that Scotland can achieve their target if action is taken to develop further renewable energy assets. Renewable projects such as Allt an Tuir Renewable Energy Park will help with this goal.
